A space for all

Built in 1865, as the home of the Branwell family. Penlee House is home to many paintings by members of the Newlyn School. It is also home to the Penzance Natural History and Antiquarian Society collection.

In April 1920 the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company acquired this ex fishery protection vessel the Argus or Argon renamed it RMS Peninnis and had it licensed to carry 210 passengers in the winter, 212 in the summer on the route from Penzance to St Mary's, Isles of Scilly. On 23 April 1927 it was sold, went to Alderney and became the Ridunna.

This was Prospect House, Barwinney Lane in Paul, the home of Miss Verenda, later Mrs Devereaux. It was bombed in World War Two and a bungalow erected on the site. There was a public house between the cottage with the two chimneys and the house. The pig on the back of the cart apppears to have been slaughtered.
