Description: A Castle Class engine hauls the Paddington to Penzance sleeper train across Hayle Viaduct, the only viaduct to cross the old A30 twice. 171 Castle Class engines were built between 1923 and 1950. Some were rebuilds of Churchward famous Star Class engines dating from 1906 and 1911. The Great Bear, Great Western's only 4-6-2 dates from 1908. A number of these engines are preserved. Standard 8 cars KCV 828 were in use about 1948.
