Alongside our Exhibition programme we run a variety of community events and workshops. The Newlyn School and Social history galleries change often. Find out what’s on.
Built in 1865, as the home of the Branwell family. Penlee House is home to many paintings by members of the Newlyn School. It is also home to the Penzance Natural History and Antiquarian Society collection.
We welcome education groups and can offer a range of services to facilitate learning. Please contact the Learning Team to discuss your requirements and to book a slot.
Self Guided Visits
Self-guided formal education group visits are free of charge and must be booked in advance. We can organise an introductory talk about the gallery and its exhibitions. This is free to all formal education groups and can be tailored to a specific area of study by prior arrangement.
Teacher Pre-visits
Organise a visit for yourself prior to bringing your students. We welcome pre-visits by teachers who are bringing groups to the gallery.
Learning Workshops
We have designed the workshop programme to compliment the National Curriculum. If you are studying a particular topic that is not listed, we will do our best to help.
We love having students visiting Penlee house so they can see the original collections. However, we understand that this is not always possible. A member of Penlee House staff or one of our Learning Volunteers can visit your organisations and deliver an outreach version of some of our workshop alongside the class teacher. These visits are charged at the above rates, travel costs will also apply.
Feedback
We appreciate your feedback. We welcome any comments on your experience of visiting Penlee House. After attending a schools workshop, we will provide you with an evaluation form. We will use your comments to improve our services.
