Description
A true ‘son’ of Cornwall, Penzance-born Harold Harvey is the subject of a major exhibition at Penlee House Gallery Museum from 1 May to 29 September 2024. Harvey’s early work might be compared to that of Stanhope Forbes, while his later paintings show clear affinities with Laura Knight and Dod Procter. Many of his contemporaries were visiting observers, but for Harvey, who rarely left the county even though a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy, he was painting the Cornwall that was his home.
First published in 2001, this revised edition features a greatly expanded version of the catalogue raisonne, as well as a fresh selection of over 80 colour illustrations spanning Harvey’s entire career.
