Identification
Item: Pelistry, St Mary's, Isles of Scilly.
Description: A postcard of the bay at Pelistry, showing the printed script of "Pelistry, St Mary's. Scilly" at the bottom of the card. The number 799 is printed in the right hand corner, and the card is date stamped 22 April 1958. Pelistry was a small farming and fishing community on the east coast of St Mary's. In 1650, it was recorded as Porthlistrye meaning a cove for ships. Gibson in "Sunny Lyonesse" records three kinds of ferns here with 'sea rushes that bind the sand'.
