Item: Channel Air Ferries Plane
Description: A close up image of the De Havilland DH84 Dragon airliner, Registration G-ACPY. It was camouflaged during WWII, but was shot down between Lands End and the Isles of Scilly on 3 June 1941, by a German Heinhel III returning from a raid on Barrow-in-Furness. All six on board were killed: Pilot William Donald Anderson, DEC (Australian); and the Leggitt family - John and Sheelagh, their daughters Jeannie and Romalita and Sheelagh's mother, Georgina Griffith.
