Item: Men Scryfa, near Madron, Cornwall.
Description: At Grid reference NG427353, stands the 'Men Scryfa' granite pillar (the stone with writing). It is inscribed inscribed RIALOBRANI CUNOVALI FILI. This signifies that the stone is of the Royal Raven, son of the Glorious Prince. According to legend, "Ryaloan's" (the Royal Raven) tribe was defeated by another and fled their home on Lescudjack. He may then have taken the name 'Giant Holiburn' and live on Carn Calver before fighting his former enemy to get his lands back. A battle took place on Gendhal Moor where this stone can be seen in the hedge on the lane leading to 'Men on Tol' near the Madron to Morvah Road. Source: "Belerion" by Craig Weatherhill 1981.
