Item: Logan Rock, Treen, Cornwall.
Description: A photograph of Logan Rock, which is perched on top of Teryn Dinas (Treen Castle) cliffs at Treen. It's a 65 ton naturally balanced rock about 30 metres above sea level. In 1824, a naval officer displaced the Logan Rock with levers sending it tumbling down the cliff. Local people caused such an outcry that the Admiralty were compelled to replace the 70 ton stone at a cost of £130 8s 6d (over £13,000 in 2016).
