Item: Hole in the ship "Queen Mab" where the vessel struck the Ledges on the Isles of Scilly.
Description: The barque "Queen Mab" of Glasgow struck the Spanish Ledges rocks between Hugh & St Marys while running for shelter to the Isles of Scilly. She first anchored at Samson. The St Agnes men went aboard and manned her pumps before the steamer "Lyonnesse" towed her into St Mary's. The "Queen Mab" was sailing from Chile with fustic logwood used for dyes.
