Item: Grylls Bunny, Botallack, Cornwall
Description: This photograph is believed to be of Grylls Bunny, at Botallack. Mining at Botallack dates to medieval times and some evidence of Roman activity has also been found. Grylls Bunny was effectively open-cast workings where tin was extracted from developed pits and adits. An adit at Botallack was dug by John Tonkin who was born in St Just in 1819, became a tin miner in 1841, a gold miner in 1861 and died in 1893. Source: Webtrees.
