Item: St Just United Mine, Cape Cornwall, Cornwall.
Description: A view across the bay looking south from Cape Cornwall of St Just United Mine, Carn Gloose, Vellandreath, Sennen and Lands End on the horizon. Priest's Cove is in the foreground. St Just United Mine was called United between 1861-67; Amalgamated between 1867-79 and Utd again after 1879. After 1879, the Cape Cornwall sett was incorporated into St Just Utd. After years of mixed fortunes, it was decided that due to unsuccessful exploration for workable and profitable lodes, the mine should be 'knocked' in September 1888.
