Description: A photograph of St Just United Mine, across the cove looking towards the mine and West Bounds with Priest's Cove in the foreground and Sennen Cove and Lands End on the horizon. Carn Gloose and Aire Point are also in view. From 1861 to 1867, the mine was known at St Just United. After 1879, the Cape Cornwall sett was added. When this happened, it was once again called St Just United, after being known as St Just Amalgamated from 1867 to 1879. By 1862, it had reached a depth of 10 fathoms. In 1865, 240 men, 25 girls and 15 boys were employed. In 1869, sales of tin amounted to over 15 tons per month. Operations finally ceased in January 1889.
