Description: Passmore Edwards Institute in Gabriel Street, St Ives with unidentified people gathered either side of the building, facing the camera. The foundation stone of St Ives Free Library was laid by the donor, John Passmore Edwards on 29 April 1896. The site was given by T.B. Bolitho MP and the architects were J. Symons & Son of Blackwater. It was opened on 20 April 1896.
