Item: St Ives Church and Lifeboat House 1880s.
Description: A photograph of St Ives Church and Lifeboat House c. 1880 (before the building of the first Lifeboat slipway) from the beach. The Lifeboat House on the Harbour replaced one at Island Road built in 1860. When Smeaton's Pier was extended in 1888-90, the sand in front of the Lifeboat House dropped and a slipway was built in front of Jenning's Sail Loft.
