Item: Rosemorran House, Gulval.
Description: Believed to be the longest thatched house in Cornwall, local researchers believe that Rosemorran House was originally a farm run by monks to provide food for the monastery on St Michael's Mount, when it was connected to the Trevaylor Estate owned by the vicar of Gulval, Richard Veale. In 1796, Rosemorran was occupied by George John, the Town Clerk and Mayor Penzance. In 1880, it was owned by the Malone's of Trewaylor, who are thought to be the family in the foreground of this photograph. The last Malone, Edmond, lived in Rosemorran until the 1950s when it was bought by John Rodda, who farmed Rosemorran and Rosoon Farms. His son Barry, lived in the house and when his son Gavin married, it was was divided into two dwellings.
