Item: Mousehole harbour 1880.
Description: A view of Mousehole harbour from the shore of the mackerel boats in harbour, two of which are drying their nets between their masts, with unidentified people and children looking out at the boats. The boats in the foreground are PZ 72 'Minerva', 46.6ft built in Mousehole in 1878 for Richard Pentreath. Registration cancelled 1908; PZ 314 (or could be PZ 514) 'Mignionette' 43.6ft. Owner and skipper John Wright, 1871-88, sold at Shoreham; and 99 PZ 'Eason', 41ft owned by John Richards & Benjamin Downing 1869-89 when she was lost in a storm in the harbour. Formerly PE registered i.e. before 1869.
