Item: Boys Training Ship 'HMS Ganges' anchored in St Just Pool.
Description: The Boys Training Ship HMS 'Ganges' anchored in St Just Pool, with a shore base at Mylor, 1866-99. Several other old wooden walls were based near Falmouth including 'HMS Cambridge', 'St George' and 'Russell'. In the early 20th Century, the philanthropist Wheatley Cobb based the old wooden warships 'Implacable' and later the 'Foudroyant' (ex 'Trincomalee') at Falmouth.
