Identification
Item: Chapel Idne, Sennen, Cornwall.
Description: 'At Sennen Cove was an ancient chapel, called by the people Chapel Idne, the "narrow chapel"; being forty-five feet long and fifteen feet wide. It is now converted into a dwelling... There was was holy well of some repute here also'. (Blight 1861, 107). This photograph shows the converted building, built with round walls like the one at Crows-an-Wra, and found on the coastpath to Sennen. In the background are stables and Old Success Inn (Watkiss 1978, Photograph No 92). Outside the house is a collection of items including socks and a scarf nestling on scrub drying in the sunshine, a broom, various pots and jars and a woven basket. A boy on the right seems to be returning with some salvaged wood destined for the fire.
