Item: Ponsandane Lodge and the Driveway to Ponsandane House
Description: William Bolitho of the Coombe, Chyandour, acquired the Ponsandane Estate in the early 1800s. The lodge on the left of the photograph was the 'Three Tuns' hotel which was demolished in the 1920s. The road in the foreground known as the 'Eastern Green' is now the A30 and is unpaved at the time of the photograph, and the metal gate posts were in replaced in the 1930s by granite posts. Ponsandane House is now a care home and the Penzance distributor road now passes over between the lodge and the main house.
