Item: Old Royal Institution of Cornwall, Truro.
Description: A photograph of the Royal Institute of Cornwall with workmen outside and unidentified men looking on. The Institution was founded in 1818 and occupied the site in this image from 1834, until new premises were purchased in 1908. After extensive alterations slowed by a lack of manpower and materials during World War I, the museum finally opened at its current premises in 1919. The building to the left in the photograph, has 'ARY' in view. This can be identified in the 1911 census as the Old Truro Dispensary.
