Item: St Cleer Church, near Liskeard, Cornwall.
Description: A photograph of the entrance to St Cleer Church, with stocks outside. Two miles north of Liskeard, St Cleer gets its name from St Clarius, an English 8th century pilgrim who settled here. After a local female chieftain pestered him he fled to France, but she had him followed and murdered. His refuge at St Clair sur Epte in Normandy was named after him. The original church was 9th century, but it was rebuilt in the 13th and 19th centuries. The church is 690ft long, with a 97ft high tower and is Grade II listed.
