Item: Fowey with 'Diana'
Description: A close up view of the Scandinavian wooden sailing ship (barquentine) 'Diana' waiting to load China clay, with the Town Quay, King of Prussia, Parish Church and Fowey Hall in the background. Washing hangs between the masts. Fowey Hall which is just visible on the skyline was built in 1889, by Charles A Hanson (1846-1922) who was born in Polruan and made a fortune in Canadian lumber before returning to build Fowey Hall, which is believed to be the model for 'Toad Hall' in 'Wind in the Willows'.
