Item: Coverack Headland Hotel, Coverack, Cornwall
Description: A view of the rear of the Coverack Hotel with steps down to a grassed area. Built in the 1880s, when holiday makers could travel to Redruth or Penzance by train and take the horse drawn bus to the Lizard and, from 1887 by train to Helston and on by road. Chynhalls Point was an ideal centre for plant hunters, bird watchers and the study of geology and rock life. In 1905, a fire gutted the building which was subsequently rebuilt. It was used as a hostel for the military in the Second World War and now has 34 bedrooms and various self catering units.
