Item: Three Tuns Inn, St Keverne, The Lizard, Cornwall.
Description: A photograph of the Three Tuns Inn, St Keverne, with thatched roof and a (horse-drawn) carriage outside, along with some unidentified men and two small children, one of whom appears to be posing for the camera. The landlord's name of this ancient thatched inn is written above the door: Gilbert B Wills (Gilbert Barnard John Wills born 1859). Brought up in Newton, The Lizard, he is listed there as a butter and eggs merchant in 1901 Census, but took over as licensee of the inn in 1903. He only lasted a few years at the inn, as in 1907 plans were approved for a complete re-building. It is unlikely that Gilbert Wills was ever the landlord of the new inn. In 1908, possibly on the reopening of the inn, John Escott was named as the new licensee.
