Identification
Item: The Selus Stone, St Just Church, St Just, Cornwall.
Description: Standing on a modern plinth, the stone is engraved with a late form of the Chy Rho (first two letter of Greek for Christ integrated into a monogram). Another side is inscribed 'SELVS IACIT' (Selus lies here). The stone was found in 1834 below the former chancel where it is that 'PRESBYTER' (priest) was carved at the bottom. Selus is thought to have been a brother to Justin who became St Just.
