Item: Industrial Trawlers in Penzance Dock in the 1970s
Description: These industrial trawlers are pictured during the mackerel boom of the 1970s. To the left is one of Boston Group's Lowestoft trawlers which came to fish for mackerel. They were the Boston Sea Ranger LT328 which sank with the loss of 5 of her 8 crew 3 miles south of Gwennap Head on 5 December 1977; Boston Sea Stallion LT293 and the Boston Sea Vixen LT340. To the right is Silver Harvester BF378 of Gardenstown. She was built in 1978 in Holland for William Jack of Gardenstown and Partners.
