Identification
Item: Old Quay, Newlyn
Description: This was the view from below the cliffs in front of the Red Lion overlooking the Old Quay towards Newlyn's South Pier in the distance. One section of its wall was removed for a possible scheme to build a road below the cliff to link it with the Strand beyond the North Pier. The large buildings were accommodation with fish cellars and pilchard tanks. Below, is a fresh water chute piped from Jacob's Well. Bottom right are moorings for Toshers which were used for mackerel fishing with feathers, not lines nor hooks.
