Identification

Item: Two side trawlers on Newlyn's North Pier

Description: The trawler on the left appears to be the W&S PZ 193 which is moored alongside the Excellent PZ 513. The W&S was acquired from Lowestoft in 1949 and sold in 1968. The two boats have Stevenson's colours, grey hulls and black bulwarks. Both have their black 'buffs' hoisted on their forestays which should be displayed only when engaged in fishing. The mooring ropes are tied to the steel ring in the foreground, other moorings on this pier were 'T' shaped bollards. Cod-ends of the W&S's trawls are hoisted up on her mizzen mast to dry.
