A space for all

Built in 1865, as the home of the Branwell family. Penlee House is home to many paintings by members of the Newlyn School. It is also home to the Penzance Natural History and Antiquarian Society collection.

Item: Fishing boats moored off North Pier, Newlyn

Description: From left to right: Stevenson trawler Karenza PZ85 which was lost by fire in 1978. The star on her bow originates from the Bethel Star on the sails of boats which did not fish on Sundays. The Heather Amorel PZ155 sank off Sennen on 18 March 1993. She was an ex JBS SS17 Gillian Clare and ex PW 199 Patsy Anne and ex Sweet Promise SS95 and ex Our Venture SS 131 and ex Our Girls. The Gillian Clare was lost on Hayle Bar on 6 February 1988. The William Harvey PZ75 has been a French boat. Our Venture is on the far right.
