Item: The West door of Truro Cathedral
Description: Consecrated in 1887, the Cathedral made Truro the modern capital of Cornwall. The foundation stone was laid by Edward, Prince of Wales, sporting his Freemason's regalia. Pearson's were the architects of this church which was built on a plot of tapering proportions in the heart of the city. It has three spires and was the setting for the first performance of the 'Nine Lessons and Carols.' This picture shows the cathedral in its infancy but the cobbles remain in 2011.
