Item: The Cornish Riviera Express
Description: The Cornish Riviera Express ran between London and Penzance from 1904. The service only ceased briefly during the two World Wars. For the first two years, only a summer service was provided. After this it became an all-year feature of the timetable. The service was powered by diesels in the late 1950s being replaced by diesel electric in 1977. SST's replaced these in 1981.
