Item: The Longships Lighthouse
Description: Photographed from the air and from the seaward (western) side, in this photo of the Longships Lighthouse, the tower is heavily weather stained. This suggests a relatively modern’ photo, but one taken prior to fitting the helicopter platform in 1974. This rock tower was built by the Corporation of Trinity House 1870-1873 to replace the 1795 tower.
