Description: Legend has it that on 30 January 1648, during a dreadful thunderstorm and hurricane, the day on which King Charles 1 was beheaded, a large stone figure of a man called 'The Armed Knight' which stood in an upright position at the extremity of Lands End, 40 fathoms above sea level, was thrown down.
