Description: This picture, taken probably Springtime around the turn of the 20th century, is of Hawke's Cottage in Alverton Road, the former home of Sir Edward Pellew, It shows how the level of the road has risen over the years. At one time this was a farmhouse whose fields may have stretched as far as Wherrytown.
