Item: Loading cargo in Penzance harbour
Description: A photograph of part of Penzance harbour. A Thames barge sits against the dock to the right as a number of men load cargo onto the boat from a car and trailer. On the front of the car are the words 'Vincent Camborne Phone Haulier 122' Part of the lighthouse can be seen to the central right. These barges were highly efficient, requiring as few as 2 crew, and were part of the massive trade by wind powered coasters up to the Second World War.
