Item: The wreck of the Caroline Parsons 1937
Description: This is a photograph of the wreck of a St Ives lifeboat, 'Caroline Parsons' on the rocky shore. A group of people stand around the boat. 'St Ives Lifeboat' is painted on the front of the structure. The lifeboat had capsized on return to the shore after rescuing 24 members of the steamer 'M.V Alba', which had run aground. The engine was damaged and the boat wrecked. All but 4 members of the 'Alba' crew survived. A number of the lifeboat crew received R.N.L.I medals.
