Item: The Wreck of the Caroline Parsons 1937
Description: Wreck of the St Ives lifeboat Caroline Parsons on the rocky shore of Porthmeor beach. A crowd gathers beside the boat, possibly to help with the rescue. The lifeboat had capsized on return to the shore after rescuing 24 members of the steamer 'M.V Alba', which had run aground. The engine was damaged and the boat wrecked. All but 4 members of the 'Alba' crew survived. A number of the lifeboat crew received R.N.L.I medals.
