Item: HMS Warspite on tow
Description: HMS Warspite is being towed between Prussia Cove and Hogus Rocks. The tug boats are "Brahman" (front) and "Englishman"(rear). Small dinghy at the front right. On 23 April 1947 the Warspite had grounded in Mount's Bay on her final voyage to the scrapyard. The flood tide meant she grounded at Prussia Cove. Captain Baxter and the eight towing crew were rescued by the Penlee Lifeboat, W and S, coxed by Eddie Madron. Members of the crew of the W and S lifeboat from Mousehole received vellum awards.
