Item: The gardeners and garden of Nancegollan Station in 1956
Description: Four railway staff are standing by flower bed at Nancegollan Station, near Helston. The railway line between Helston and Gwinear Road opened in 1887 with stations at Praze, Nancegollan and Truthall Halt. From left to right: W.H. Dale, Signalman; E.A. Bone, Porter; W.A. Stephens, Leading Porter-Signalman; S.J. Jeffery, Station Master. They were winners of the British Railways Garden Competition ( South West Region, Plymouth Section) in October 1956. 64 stations had entered the competition.
