Item: The Concha in Penzance harbour for repairs 1957
Description: On 15 August 1957 the Costa Rican steamer Concha 660 GRT, bound for Newport with pit props, arrived at Penzance with engine trouble and a 20 degree list which developed when the cargo shifted in a storm 70 miles north of Bordeaux. The Concha sank a year later off St Ann's Head following an explosion in the engine room.
