Item: Five sailors around the propeller of minesweeper HMS Wave ashore at St Ives on 30 September 1952
Description: Built in 1924, HMS Wave was a minesweeper on Fishery Protection Service. She anchored close to St Ives on 30 September 1952. Her anchor chain parted in a force 7 -8 gale early next morning and she was driven ashore. She was winched off by the boom defence ships Barbastel and Barnaby on 2 October, given temporary repairs alongside Smeaton's Pier and towed to Devonport for permanent repairs.
