Item: The departure from Newlyn of the Richard and John for New Zealand
Description: The crew pose, awaiting the departure of the 'Richard and John' for New Zealand. The 61.5 ft boat had been converted from a former Admiralty MFV in Holman's Dry Dock, Penzance. On Sunday 14 August 1955 it set sail to New Zealand via the Panama Canal. The skipper was L J Higham, the crew - Laurie Duncan, Laurie Carey and Geoffrey Dunreath-Cooper.
