Item: The Richard and John being refitted at Penzance Dry Dock for its voyage in the wake of the Mystery one hundred years before
Description: The Richard and John is in Penzance dry dock with New Zealand owner, Snowy Higham on board. The 61.5 ft boat had been converted from a former Admiralty MFV in Holman's Dry Dock, Penzance. On Sunday 14 August 1955 it set sail to New Zealand via the Panama Canal. The skipper was L J Higham, the crew - Laurie Duncan, Laurie Carey and Geoffrey Dunreath-Cooper. The boat would join his own fishing fleet, eventually.
