Identification
Item: A rather formal opening to the Peterstide garden fete at St Peter's Church
Description: A church fete in the 1950s was obviously a place to wear one's Sunday best. At the opening of the event it would seem that the lady opening the event, perhaps Vicar's wife, is being presented with a bouquet of flowers. This charming photograph depicts that air of order which did not survive the Britain of the 1960s.
