Item: Diver about to descend from a diving boat
Description: It is suggested that this photograph was taken in Penzance Harbour. The diving dress is pretty standard harbour diving gear and the clothes of the boatmen indistinctive. The Town Council employed divers. The gentleman in the white hat could be the Harbour Master, Ivor Freethy. The diver was frequently called on to examine the underwater dock gate working, the pointing and footings of the harbour walls and to look for obstructions in the sea bed.
