Item: The Water Carrier
Description: In the sunshine, a water carrier is filling his large barrel with a bucket of water drawn from a small stone surrounded water source whilst a smartly dressed gentleman stands by. The barrel is mounted horizontally on a long two wheeled shaft pulled by a horse. The water would subsequently be sold by the bucketful. This kind of water distribution was used in the Tregeseal/Nancherrow area until the 1960s.
