Identification
Item: Penzance Promenade.
Description: A photograph looking westwards along the promenade at Penzance towards the Queen's Hotel, Drew's Serpentine Works and Wherrytown. The promenade still has its old railings and the Public Baths which opened on the promenade in 1887 are in the background. On the beach are groynes (built in 1883) and a bathing machine. In 1894, there were licenses for 13 bathing machines so this photograph is thought to be nearer to 1890.
