Item: The Greenmarket in Penzance
Description: This is a coloured engraving by J S Prout of Greenmarket, Penzance and was printed and published by J P Vibert in 1831. Left to right are two figures with baskets by a raised, possible drained, area; an inn with a raised storey; a shopping arcade (Polkinghorne) with a stall outside; the market cross from which Penzance Borough extended half a mile; scrolled roof edging; woman fetching water from the chute; oil or gas lamp.
Condition: Fair - some staining caused by mount; top left corner missing; tear, bottom middle; tear, bottom right; stain top left of image.
