Item: Geevor Mine through Old Levant Workings
Description: Geevor was based originally on a small and ancient settlement at Wheal Stennack, later known as East Levant from 1852 to 1891and as North Levant. It is on the cliffs between St Just in Penwith and Pendeen. The mine prospered before its closure in the 1980s bringing drastic social and economic changes to the area. The uprights are the concrete posts of the Californian stamps which had been installed at Levant. The headgear is positioned over Victory Shaft which is the main winding shaft. This headgear was erected and modified in the 1950s.
