Item: Planting early potatoes in Ludgvan, c.1950
Description: Planting early potatoes at Rose in Vale Farm, Ludgvan, in the 1950s. The potatoes are dropped by hand into the ridges made previously. They would then be covered in earth by a horse drawn single banker. The horse was led usually by a boy to keep it from straying across the rows. This practice ceased in the early 1960s when the tractor drawn planters came into use. From left to right : anon; Mr Barnes; James Wallis; Mr Leah' James Wallis Snr
